If you’re experiencing high turnover rates and low employee satisfaction, it could be time to rethink the perks you provide your team with. In order to keep your employees happy, healthy and productive, you need to give them reasons to be excited and passionate about the company they work for. Don’t let this next sentence go in one ear and out the other. Invest in helping your employees maintain a healthy work-life balance. You may think providing awesome perks is a waste of money, but once you see how it positively affects your employees you will regret ever going without them! Here are five ways to show your team they matter:

Time to Unwind – It is vital to your business that you give your employees time off. You may not be able to adopt an unlimited vacation policy, but this doesn’t mean you can’t make sure your employees are taking time to recuperate. In order for them to stay interested and on top of their work, give them the time they need to recharge and spend time with loved ones.

Allow Fun – I’m not asking you, I’m telling you: do not be the grumpy boss who scolds their employees for joking, laughing or simply taking a lunch break. Make sure your team knows that you want them to have fun at work. Consider starting an intramural sports team or offer various health incentive plans. These are a few creative ways you can help manage stress and keep your employees excited about coming to work.

Office Catering – When employees hear the words “catered lunch” you’d think they won the lottery. It’s actually quite hilarious to see how crazy your team goes for food. Free catered lunch is a benefit your employees will not only get excited for, but also be thankful for. Plus, it’s one less thing they’ll have to worry about taking care of that morning.

Work Flexibility – Chances are, you’ve got employees who don’t need to be in the office physically everyday in order to do their job. Providing employees the option and flexibility to work from home is a benefit of the future. Check out this article on telecommuting tips for employers and employees.

Healthy Incentives – According to this survey, employees who participate in their company’s wellness program say they have more energy to be productive at work. On-site company gyms may be a stretch for your company, but reimbursements for personal gym memberships or exercise equipment is much more doable. When your employees are flexible, fit and healthy, they will in turn feel more focused and ready to tackle their workday with a great attitude.
