The Importance of Being Thankful

“At Thanksgiving we should be thankful for everything in our life – even the things that may seem like challenges today. Usually, the challenges in our life lead to positive changes in our life.”  — Dr. Wayne Dyer

Feasts, football, friends and family – it doesn’t get much better than that. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, for reasons above and beyond the food and football. It’s a day where everyone does what I wish we all did on a daily basis—taking pause to cherish our blessings.

Dr. Dyer’s quote really hits the mark on what us entrepreneurs should be focusing on – viewing challenges as a positive, rather than a stressful negative. There have been many times where I hear others complaining or stressing about things that really have the potential to become opportunities and changes for the better.

So, now I challenge you all to face this holiday, as well as every other day, with thanks. Take that pause from Thanksgiving and transfer it over to an every day practice.  As the year-end approaches, wake up every day feeling blessed. Blessed that you have a roof over your head, food in your pantry and loved ones to hug. All the other worries and “issues” in your life will become seemingly insignificant and therefore less stressful. It is all too easy to get caught up in your to-do list and worry about your next endeavor – but keep in mind how lucky you are to have a career in the first place.

Finally, always look for ways to help others who are less fortunate than yourself. In giving back to others, and helping them to unleash their potential, we can truly appreciate the blessings we have.

What are you thankful for?
